  • If you’re reading this I want you to know that God loves you and He cares about you so much that He became a man (Jesus Christ) and died for you. Repent and believe in the gospel, He is the ONLY way to heaven. You can’t get into heaven by doing good works and you don’t have to go to a priest to confess anything. Cry out to Him through prayer He will not turn you away. Dive into His word (The Bible) for guidance and do not continue in your sins. Make His word the final say in your life. Visit living waters and the beat by Allen Parr (ISworlds) for more clarity. • There is a difference between inaction, and not being allowed to complete an intended action. Clarence did in fact act on the zombie's behalf, so it muddles the message intended. IF someone wanted to argue no one would have believed his assertions at the end and he would have been failed by the system as an innocent man, who'd tried to do the right thing and got completely hamstrung by screwed up circumstances all around; buried under circumstantial evidence and thrown into an asylum as an easier answer to swallow for the crowds, that would be a more apt message. An admission that sometimes it's about appropriately tying the story up. The way that tale ends comes off unintentionally hypocritical of the zombie. Or is a pointed take on black people blaming black people, as often as it's a white vs black issue. You could argue that a soul stripped of innocence by such brutal means would darken in the afterlife, however any sentience who valued justice the way that man fought to do wouldn't have gone all serial killer on a compatriot. Spirits that burn for vengeance usually have very specific targets, as well as reasons for their ire. There is a conversation to be had about the problem of black people joining the police force because they genuinely want to help their community and believe in the law who end up being treated as much a part of the problem, when so many have been taught there is corruption in the system after all. That's another issue. I do like these anthologies for the thought provoking points, and the skill of their stories, but I admit the second Tales went a bit ham by the end.

For some reason the imagery of their hands up in the air while becoming engulfed in flames always stayed seared in my mind. I was probably meant to see that.
