Couple of corrections for this one - 1) I messed up with the "opposite charges of a magnet" joke, that's not good science. Sorry, been a long month. 2) The pregnancy thing WAS a subplot in the novel that I forgot about, so it wasn't an entirely random addition. My bad!

  • In the book is not about only the bullying and the abuse. It's about how everyone can become a good person, how everyone can become a bad person, how everyone can be good and bad. The most tragic thing is Carrie doesn't find a reason to be a good person and chooses to be a bad person. Carrie 2013 threats better character development and psychological aspect. Carrie believes the God is mercy as is said in the New Testament and she must be mercy. After a person who was kind with her is killed, she finds the mercy will never help. She follows Old Testament and kills those who appears to be implied in the prank: Eye for an eye and tooth for tooth. After the massacre, she finds that doesn't help and she tries to get help from her mother, but she has other plans for her daughter. Fighting with her, she finds it's necessary to kill the person who love the most. In the end, she doesn't find a reason to live or a way to live, so she ends her life. Sue is one of the bullies. She is doing that because she wants to be in a group. Belonging to a group makes a person feels more secure. When sees how scared is Carrie, she understand what she had done is wrong. Sue doesn't choose to convince Tommy to take Carrie to the prom just because she feels sorry, but she wants to prove to Chris she takes the punishment because she feels sorry, not because she want to go to prom. She tries to help Carrie after massacre, even she could kill her. In the final she defends Carrie at testimony. Chris is the main bully of the school and the most popular, beside Sue. When Carrie comes at them scared, she gives her a tampon. But Carrie doesn't understand what is happening and Chris uses this weakness to gain power over her. She doesn't hate Carrie because what she said in the sixth grade class, but she said everyone would face consequences of their actions and we are equal. Chris doesn't like that. She feels secure when she has the power. The video in the locker room is a proof that she has power over her. The power over the others makes her to feels secure. Miss Dejardin, the PE teacher, is not interested what is happening with Carrie at the beginning of the movie. At pool scene, Chris told Carrie to eat shit and there Miss Dejardin was there and doesn't tell Chris to stop. But after the moment in the locker room, she understands Carrie need help. She is doing the best to help her. After the massacre she feels guilty. Margaret the mother of Carrie, does what she does because she doesn't want to end in Hell. She was raped, even she liked what she felt. She feels guilty because she borns Carrie and what she is doing to her daughter think is good and will protect her. In the end she tries to kill Carrie because she think in that way her daughter will end in the Heaven and not in the Hell. She is mental illness, she doesn't know exactly what she is doing. Principal Morton is not so dumb as in the original and he tries to help Carrie. Not the best way but he is not so indifferent to the problem. Tommy, boyfriend of Sue, has some reason to help Sue with her plan. He regrets he hit a boy in sixth grade and didn't apologized. Billy is more abusive toward Chris, his girlfriend. The message is clear: don't bully, don't abuse and don't fall like Carrie. If I'm wrong, I'm going to prayer closet and pray for forgiveness.

  • What I find funny about this movie is that it's entire plot revolves around the fact that no one seems to notice Carrie's acts of TK before the Prom. Realistically, one of those kids would have noticed beforehand and when they heard about Chris' plan they would have warned Carrie beforehand in hopes that they would be spared from her Rage.

They (carrie and the mom) probably do love eachother but both resent eachother, Carrie being forced into the likeness of what the mom is delusioned to go by and the mom resenting carrie because she isnt the "perfect" person that falls into line of no sin.

The only good film I've seen her in is "brain on fire" and even then it's because the story was rlly good. Otherwise I find her line delivery so underwhelming and sometimes I even literally tear up over my embarrassment for her when her face just doesn't match the mood of her character like in 18:44 DEAR GOD that's horrible

  • Ok but they actually did film like 50 minutes of footage that included things like interviews, news reports, the town destruction, more kills, and a lot more things from the novel that the studio made them cut. If they came out with a directors cut of this 2013 remake, then it would really be amazing and a great remake.

  • I know it's a bit obvious, but this 2013 version of the movie is so much better than the previous 2. I say obvious, because it's newer and can therefor have more special effects, which make it better. I do prefer the death scene in the 2002 version of Chris Hargensen and Billy Nolan, this one was also very satisfying to watch. but the car getting wrapped around a tree was very cool in the 2002 version. you are right, it is the same movie as the original, but with better graphics and effects, therefor making it a better movie. the 2002 version is different enough to worth a watch on its own I think. I have spoiled a bit of it here in this comment and for that I'm sorry, but the rest is good enough. The sport that the girls practise before the famous period blood scene in the shower seems to change from movie to movie however. I like how Carrie moves her arms around more and she telekineticly throws stuff around, not like in the other verstions where she has her hands still.

  • Honestly I kinda dig the 2013 remake, even though the 2002 version is my favourite. It's grown on me over the years, mostly because I really can't stand the teacher, Tommy and Sue from the original. I also love that Chris is just so shamelessly evil and sociopathic like she is in the book (the other two films really downplayed how awful she was). I feel like Kimberly Peirce would have made something truly great - which you can see in the acting and direction of certain scenes - but was forced to make it more like the 1976 film. Some of the planned stuff she wanted to do actually sounds interesting - Sue's autobiography was going to be updated to video diaries to bookend the story, Freddie Holt filming Carrie's powers was going to be used as evidence, and the popular girls were going to have more characterization to make their deaths count.
